September — Summer warmth lingers (15–20 °C). Crowds thin after school starts. Open House London weekend — hundreds of private and historic buildings open their doors for free. An excellent month.
October — Autumn: 10–16 °C. Halloween events throughout the city. Bonfire Night preparations. Colours in the royal parks are beautiful. Good value month with fewer tourists.
November — Bonfire Night (November 5) — fireworks in Victoria Park and Alexandra Palace. Christmas lights on Oxford Street and Regent Street switch on in late November. 8–12 °C.
December — Hyde Park's Winter Wonderland runs through early January. Ice rinks at Somerset House and the Natural History Museum. 4–9 °C. Magical atmosphere, high prices.

May, June, and September are the London sweet spots: long days, pleasant temperatures, and the best mix of outdoor events and cultural life without peak August prices. Wimbledon in late June/early July is unmissable for tennis fans.

January and February are cold and grey — though genuinely cheap and uncrowded for those who don't mind. August is the busiest and most expensive month for tourism, even if the weather is also at its best.
